Development and Approval of the Law on Conservation, Restoration, and Management of the Country’s Wetlands (ratified on April 24, 2017)

When developing and implementing integrated management plans for the  wetlands, and given the necessity of conservation and smart and effective utilization of the wetlands, the availability of upstream laws supporting these ecosystems in order to support the implementation of the integrated management plans seemed necessary. Therefore, after developing the draft, this law was presented by the Iranian Department of Environment to the Cabinet for evaluation, approval, and submission to the Parliament. After exhaustive evaluation and necessary modifications, the law was sent to the Parliament. Ultimately, the Law on Conservation, Restoration, and Management of the Country’s Wetlands was ratified on April 24, 2017 by the Parliament. Consequently, it was formally announced and came into effect.
