Seventeen Wetlands in the Country are in the Process of Developing Integrated Management Plans for Wetlands

Besides the 17 wetlands, which the process of developing and approving has been completed and their integrated management plans are currently being implemented, 17 other wetlands are in the process of developing the integrated management plan based on the ecosystem approach. The main principles of this approach include, among others, the necessity of promoting the participation of all stakeholders including local communities and NGOs through a bottom-up process along with planning at basin level. In order to prepare these plans, at first, a number of technical and advisory meetings are held to elicit the consensus-based ideas of the participants to contextualize the integrated management plan for these wetlands. At the next stage, the plans are presented to the relevant stakeholders for final comments. Afterward, the plan is approved through the Provincial and County Planning and Development Council, followed by formal announcement to all stakeholders for implementation.
