Implementation of Integrated Management Plans for Wetlands Will Be Monitored at the National Level
The National Manager of CIWP announced a joint meeting with the General Director of the Technical and Civil Planning Office of the Ministry of Interior on evaluating the role of the Ministry of Interior in the implementation and execution of comprehensive ecological management plans for wetlands and the future strategies for facilitating this process.
Emphasizing the focus of CIWP on the implementation of integrated management plans for wetlands, Ali Arvahi added: “currently, 34 wetlands in the country have integrated management plans, among which 18 plans have been approved and are ready to be implemented. This is while, the CIWP will support the implementation of these plans according to its five-year work plan”.
Arvahi Added: “it is necessary for the better management of wetlands to pursue the implementation of integrated management plans for wetlands at a number of different levels”. He continued: “collaboration between ministries and relevant organizations at the national level is one of the most important pillars for the execution and implementation of such plans”.
Arvahi continued: “given the fact that integrated management plans for wetlands are developed through an inter-sectoral process with a specific organizational structure (governor and district governor authorities are head of these structures), it is necessary to implement these plans through inter-sectoral collaboration as well”.
Then, he emphasized the decisive role the Ministry of Interior plays at the national level for pursuing the implementation of these management plans.
Finally, the National Manager of CIWP mentioned the agreement between the parties to establish a join technical committee and hoped that establishing such a committee can prompt important steps at the national level for implementing these management plans.
