NGOs are becoming more empowered to implement the country’s wetland ecosystem management programs more effectively.
The National Manager of Conservation of Iranian Wetlands Project announced the holding of the second meeting of the Wetlands' NGOs Working Group.
The second meeting of the working group of wetland NGOs with the presence of managers and experts of related offices of Department of Environment and CIWP, the secretary of environment and natural resources formations, and representatives of NGOs that are active in the country’s wetland conservation was held online on 26 July 2020.
Ali Arvahi, while emphasizing the role and importance of non-governmental organizations in advancing the goals of management plans, stated that the purpose of holding these meetings is to strengthen the function of non-governmental organizations in better implementation of ecosystem management plans of the country’s wetlands.
He added that in this meeting, NGOs expressed their views, challenges, points of view, and suggestions to improve the condition of the country’s wetlands.
“With the coordination made with the Office of Public Participation and Social Responsibility and the Office of Conservation and Restoration of Wetlands in the country, we will hope to witness the continuation of symposiums with NGOs of the country’s wetlands on a purposeful and regular basis of the quarterly period” Arvahi mentioned in the end.
