Observation of the specialized consulting meeting of general managers of wetland provinces in Khuzestan Province

The national manager of Conservation of Iranian Wetlands Project informed about the observation of the first specialized consulting meeting of the managers of all wetland provinces of the country in Khuzestan province.

Referring to the resolution and implementation of the ecosystem management programs for 34 Wetlands of the country, Arvahi mentioned the legal and multi-sectoral position of the secretaries of ecosystem management and asserted that the first role of the Organization of Environment in the management of wetlands is its governance role as one of the involved and beneficiaries of wetlands and the second role is its secretary role that accepts varying functions, responsibilities, and duties.

The national manager of Conservation of Iranian Wetlands Project of recognized coordination among administrative organizations concerning the activities of the management plan, helping with the integration of the management plan in provincial organs, the prediction of national credits and provision of provincial credits required for the implementation of the programs, supervision of the programs’ execution, evaluation of progress, and presentation of supervisory reports to the national level as the most important liabilities of the General Department of Environment as the secretary of wetlands’ managerial committee.

Arvahi perceived the empowerment of the secretaries of ecosystem management, organization and reform of the national secretary, evaluation and assessment of the wetlands’ management planning results derived from the management, processes, and outcomes of the selected wetlands, and the identification of the strengths and weaknesses of the program as the practices of the several recent months of the Iranian wetlands’ protection project. He declared the preparedness of the Iranian wetlands’ protection project to transfer the experiences of the project and its achievements to provinces and hoped that the periodical meetings of the general managers of all wetland provinces to be held by one of the wetland provinces every six months.
It is worth mentioning that the specialized consulting meeting of the general managers of wetland provinces in Khuzestan province was observed by the General Department of Environment of Khuzestan province with the attendance of the general managers of 34 provinces and the support of the Iranian wetlands’ protection project. In this meeting, the managers visited the Horalazim wetland and were informed about the last activities performed for its management.
