Opening Ceremony of Ghuri Gol CEPA Center
The second of February has been named World Wetlands Day so that we do not forget the importance and necessity of conserving wetlands. Ghuri Gol Wetland, located in East Azarbaijan Province which is one of the satellite wetlands of Lake Urmia, hosted a group of officials and locals on Wednesday, the 2 Feb to hold the opening ceremony of the CEPA center next to this wetland. In this regard, the Conservation of Iranian Wetland Project (CIWP) in cooperation with the General Directorate of Department of Environment in East Azerbaijan, equipped the CEPA center of Ghuri Gol wetland.
Yadollah Alahyari, Governor of Bostan Abad, Hassan Abbasnejad, Director General of Environment of the province, representatives of local communities and active associations, and several sports activists from the province attended this ceremony.
Noorullah Moradi, Acting Deputy of Education and Public Participation of the Department of Environment, who virtually attended the ceremony, pointed out the importance of education for the conservation of wetlands and emphasized on the need for publishing more information in this regard.
Mehri Asnaashari, the National Project Manager of Conservation of Iranian Wetland project, who was also virtually present in this ceremony, talked about the importance and role of wetlands in the country, especially in East Azarbaijan province, and spoke about the measures taken by this project in the satellite wetlands of this province.
CEPA center is a place for informing, educating, participating, and raising awareness of various audiences of the local community and visitors of Ghori Gol Wetland located in Bostan Abad to acquaint them with the importance and value of the wetland and attract their participation to conserve it.
