The 22nd Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting
The 22nd project steering committee meeting was held on 21 Jan 2018 with the presence of DoE Natural Environment Deputy, representatives from United Nation Development program (UNDP), Lake Urmia Restoration Program (LURP), Ministry of Jihad Agriculture (MoJA), Management and Planning Organization, Ministry of Energy, Foreign Affairs and wetlands related managers and experts from provincial DoEs.
CIWP progress report in 2017 was presented, reviewed and discussed in this meeting. Later on, CIWP 2018 work plan was presented and approved by the members of the steering committee.
The following issues were reviewed and discussed in this meeting:
- Establishment of ecosystem approach in wetlands management was introduced as one of the main outputs of Conservation of Iranian Wetlands Project which it's footprint is seen in most of the country's laws, as well as country development program.
- Extensive sharing of the achievements and experiences of "restoration of Lake Urmia via modelling local communities participation" project to be used in other wetlands basins
- To provide appropriate model of the local communities' Livelihood, economy and their life-dependence on wetlands and the environment to the country
