The national manager of Conservation of Iranian Wetlands Project informed about the observation of the first meeting of the steering committee of compiling the national CEPA plan for the country’s wetlands.
The first meeting of the steering committee of the communication, education, participation, and awareness plan (CEPA) was held this year on June 9th by the presence of the mangers and experts of the specialized offices of the Department of Environment in the location of the sessions of the marine environment and wetlands deputy.
In the meeting, the fourfold communication, education, participation, and awareness elements were introduced, and the concepts and frameworks of this plan, and the importance and exigency of compiling the national CEPA plan for the country’s wetlands were discussed from the perspectives of Ramsar and biodiversity conventions. Ali Arvahi added: “many deeds have been so far implemented dispersedly on the four axes of CEPA. They were mainly case actions and were not sometimes based on the needs assessment of the different target groups. Hence, it is time to order these actions in the form of a compiled, strategic, and integrated plan, namely CEPA plan, for the country’s wetlands and implement them using the accurate evaluations of the present situation of audiences in terms of communication, education, participation, and awareness and applying needs assessment proportionate with the present conditions.”
In the continuation of this meeting, the compilation road map of the CEPA plan was discussed and investigated by the meeting attendees. We also determined to evaluate the communication, education, participation, and awareness (CEPA) plan to facilitate and increase its precision factor.
